BACKFLOW DEVICES
The Plumbing Code of Australia is the Legal Legislation that spells out how plumbing installations are to be carried out in NSW.
As plumbers we must adhere to this and to AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS AS3500. This Standard along with AS2845.3 explains why Backflow devices must be installed and how they are to be tested and how often. (every 12 months maximum) We work to these standards for the customer’s safety.

Here on the Central Coast the local Central Coast Council has the responsibility to ensure that the water that we all drink every day is safe for human consumption. They, like other Councils, Sydney Water and the Hunter Water Corporation in NSW have their Backflow Containment Policies. Here is where it is set out what property owners must do on their part to ensure that the water supply remains safe. Property owners must install, maintain and have tested their backflow devices by an Accredited Backflow Plumber. Failure on the part of property owners to have, maintain and test their Backflow devices each year by an Accredited Backflow Plumber, may force the Council to disconnect the water supply (on Commercial Properties) or to restrict the water supply (on Private Properties)
