What is a TMV?

A Thermostatic Mixing Valve blends hot and cold water to deliver water at a safe, controlled temperature. TMVs arecommonly required in:

Aged care facilities (legal requirement).

TMV Testing & Maintenance Requirements

 

Australian Standards require TMVs to be:

Tested and commissioned upon new installation.
Serviced annually and pass thermal shutdown requirements (fail safe) of both hot and cold water including the replacement of all integral O-rings (hosplan and manufacturers requirements).
Overhauled every 5 years with the replacement of the thermoscopic element (Wax Capsule) and pass thermal shutdown requirements (Fail Safe) of both hot and cold water.
Maintained to ensure accurate temperature control Certificates to be kept on site and duplicates to be held with the plumber. Failure to maintain TMVs can result in:

Scalding risks.
Non compliance notices and fines.
Closure of facility.
No insurance.
